“Assault Weapons” Ban POLICY
Status of the Bill
Washington state’s proposed “Assault Weapons” Ban (AWB) HB1240 has passed the house and is now in committee in the senate. The bill, in its current form, makes it illegal to sell, distribute, ect. what the legislature has defined as an assault weapon. The final bill may change and may include more or less items in it.
If, and when, the bill gets passed, the senate and the governor signs the bill into law, Securité will not be able to sell or transfer any of the affected items.
Purchasing an AWB Firearm In-Store
If you purchased an item covered by the AWB and the law goes into effect BEFORE your 10 business day waiting period has expired, we will refund your money minus our standard cancelation fee ($60 per firearm).
If you have cleared your background check and the 10 business day waiting period HAS PASSED and you have not picked up your firearm before the law goes into effect, we will refund your money minus double our standard cancelation fee ($120).
Transfers of an AWB Firearm
If your transfer is covered by the AWB and the law goes into effect BEFORE your firearm is in your possession, it will be YOUR responsibility to arrange a return back to the originator of the firearm.
Securité will assist you in returning the item(s) but you or the originator will be responsible to provide a pre-paid return label and cover any additional costs involved in returning the firearm.
This must be done as soon as possible following the enactment of the law. If the firearm is still in our possession after 30 days, our standard storage fees will apply. After 120 days, the item will be deemed as abandoned.
This is a challenging time for our community and Securité Gun Club will do what we can to assist you in exercising your rights.
